PL Darts Tips: Possible Dutch delight for Van Gerwen and a 7/1 Oche Acca

| 18.04.2018

The Premier League heads to Rotterdam this evening for the first night of a two-day stint in the Netherlands.

There’s everything still to play for as Finals Night draws ever closer. Will Michael van Gerwen tighten his grip on the top of the table?

And can one of Gary Anderson, Simon Whitlock or Daryl Gurney steal a march on the all-important fourth spot?

We’ve previewed all of tonight’s action below and attempted to follow up last week’s 7/1 Oche Acca winner with another at the same price…

Gary Anderson to beat Michael Smith

The apprentice beat the master when these two met on the opening night in Dublin.

But that was largely down to a back problem which struck Anderson when he was 5-1 up and cruising.

Ando’s over that now. And he’s in good form too. The Scotsman has lost just once since week three and has won three of his last four games.

He also clocked a 104.26 average last week and can get the better of Michael Smith in this one at 4/5.

It’s 9/2 he prevails 7-5 and 5/6 for either player to hit a First Leg 180.

Rob Cross v Daryl Gurney – Draw

Gurney just edged Rob Cross when the two players met in the partisan Belfast atmosphere three weeks ago.

Both players served up a treat on that occasion and we’re expecting a similar dollop of quality in front of the Dutch tonight.

Superchin may have hit 47 maximums to Voltage’s 34, but Cross boasts a 49% checkout percentage to Gurney’s 35%.

Add in that there’s barely a point difference in the overall averages of the duo and we look set for a tight tungsten tussle in Rotterdam.

You can back the draw at 10/3. Meanwhile, it’s 4/5 for there to be Over 7.5 180s and 6/4 for Gurney alone to hit a First Leg 180.

Simon Whitlock to beat Raymond van Barneveld

Raymond van Barneveld has lost his last four matches in a row. Simon Whitlock has only won once in his last seven outings in the Premier League.

So something has to give in Rotterdam.

Based on Whitlock’s 7-4 victory over Barney in week three it’s the Wizard who gets the nod once again here at 13/8.

The Aussie has looked a shade better than the Dutchman in recent weeks and also boasts better statistics in all of the key categories.

He’s 6/4 to get off to a flyer and Win the First Leg and 5/6 to Checkout Over 98.5. It’s 10/1 for Whitlock to secure a repeat 7-4 victory of the last time the two players met.

Michael van Gerwen to beat Peter Wright

Michael van Gerwen’s only defeat so far in this year’s competition came against Peter Wright in week two.

The Scotsman has been woefully out of form since, while MVG has not dropped a point.

It’s difficult to see the Scotsman upsetting the odds on recent form. So it’s the Green Machine who gets the nod at 1/3.

He’s 7/4 to take advantage of Wright’s misery by finishing King of the Oche. And after winning seven of matches by four legs or more, you can back van Gerwen on the -3.5 Handicap at even-money.

Rob Cross to beat Gary Anderson

Anderson’s only defeat since week two came against Cross in Liverpool. And we think there could be a repeat showing in store tonight.

Voltage has looked a class above in recently and has added a consistency to his game that was missing in the opening rounds.

He piled up a 106.26 average last week to beat the impressive Smith and can perform to a similar level again this evening in the final match of the night.

It’s 7/5 for a Cross victory, 17/2 that he lands a 7-5 defeat on Ando and 10/11 for there to be Over 7.5 180s in the match.

Our Oche Acca this week is Whitlock, van Gerwen and Cross (o beat Anderson) at 7/1!
