ITV Racing Preview: Charlton’s Projection to step up in Hackwood?

We’re being brought slightly back down to earth this Saturday after a top quality weekend of racing last time.

But there’s still some decent racing on our screens, with Ed Chamberlin and the ITV crew parked up at Newbury. There’s also some jumps action from Market Rasen, and a Listed race from Newmarket.

We bring you through the day with three fancies and tips for all seven races…

NAP – Emotionless – 1:50, Newbury

If all goes to plan, this should be a lay-up for Charlie Appleby’s Emotionless.

The five-year-old has had his issues over the last couple of seasons, admittedly. But he was second in a Group 3 at Meydan, finishing a couple of lengths behind Benbatl.

This could be a nice little European starting point for the son of Shamardal. William Buick is booked for the ride and the combination looks good to get us off to a decent start.

NB – Projection – 3:00, Newbury

There’s a keen-looking renewal of the Hackwood Cup at Newbury tomorrow. The feature race of the day sees a field including the likes of Invincible Army, Bacchus, and favourite, Equilateral.

But it’s Roger Charlton’s Projection we’re giving the nod to here. It should be a hotly-contested race, but this looks like the five-year-old’s big chance.

In his last three starts, he was third to Brando at Newmarket, third to The Tin Man at Windsor and then beaten into fifth in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He’s a very consistent horse and should finally get over the line in first here.

Lively Longshot – Artful Artist – 2:05, Market Rasen

Backing a jumps race in July feels a little odd but how-and-ever, we’re getting involved in the Summer Handicap Hurdle at Market Rasen.

The 2m1/2f  Listed race looks decent. And with Dr. Richard Newland’s stable bang-in-form, there’s an opportunity to bag a winner with his nine-year-old Artful Artist.

Withstanding the fact Sam Twiston-Davies is booked to ride, he also bolted up at Southwell last time out. Alright, it wasn’t the greatest race in the world, but he’ll be full of confidence and could make it two-from-two.

ITV Racing Tips:

1:50 Newbury – Emotionless (NAP)

2:05 Market Rasen – Artful Artist (Lively Longshot)

2:25 Newbury – Quloob

2:45 Newmarket – Highgarden

3:00 Newbury – Projection (NB)

3:15 Market Rasen – Calett Mad

3:35 Newbury – Kinks

All Odds and Markets are correct as of the date of publishing
