Tuesday’s transfer rumour round-up: Perez, Mina and Grealish

| 07.08.2018

There’s just two more days of the summer transfer window, and that means it’s pressure-cooker time for managers, players and clubs.

But things are starting to happen. Here’s the round-up of today’s transfer activity…

Hart heads north

After a couple of years in the wilderness, Joe Hart could be kick-starting his career at Burnley.

The 31-year-old stopper has left Manchester City on a two-year deal. The Clarets have a goalkeeping crisis right now, with Nick Pope and Tom Heaton injured.

The Jack Grealish gap

Aston Villa are continuing to play hard-ball with Jack Grealish. Tottenham Hotspur are keen but it’s believed the Premier League outfit are still £7m short of twisting Villa’s arm.

Spurs haven’t signed a single player this summer, and have just 48 hours to change that.

West Ham spree continues

They’ve raised plenty of eyebrows this summer, and West Ham’s pursuit of Lucas Perez could be the latest piece of their new-look squad.

The Spaniard is set to arrive after a difficult but impressive time at Arsenal. A clinical finisher with good movement, Perez and the Hammers could be an excellent match.

Courtois and Ayew want out

It’s a bold move to refuse to train. But that’s what Thibaut Courtois and Jordan Ayew have done at Chelsea and Swansea City respectively.

Courtois is trying to push a move to Real Madrid, with Ayew hoping to make a Premier League return at Crystal Palace. Will they succeed?

Still no joy for Mourinho

Manchester United and Jose Mourinho want a defender. They don’t particularly care which of Yerry Mina, Harry Maguire or Toby Alderweireld arrive, as long as one of them does.

But little progress has been made on that front. And some reports today claimed that Paul Pogba could be off to Barcelona. Now wouldn’t that stir things up at Old Trafford?

Richard loves his sport, especially if it involves the sound of tyres screaming around a race track. He's not fussy though and his '90s Premier League nostalgia and knowledge of team nicknames is tough to match.
