After finishing ninth last season, Peterborough United went into the new campaign eyeing a promotion push. They’re ahead of their target so far.

Posh sit top of League One after six games. They’ve won five and drawn the other one of their league outings.

They’re 15/2 to win the title and 9/4 to go up. Can they keep their momentum going?

The club had a very hectic summer as they overhauled the squad. They brought in 18 new faces and shipped out 22 players. It seems to be working so far.

Tight at the top

It’s very tight at the top of the table. The top five are all unbeaten. And only two points separate Peterborough in first from Walsall in fifth.

If they do continue to surprise, it’ll be because of their firepower. Manager Steve Evans promised his team would play attacking football. He’s been true to his word. They’re the highest-scoring side in the division with 16 goals so far.

On-loan striker Jason Cummings is the joint-top scorer with six goals. He’s being supported by fellow new arrivals Siriki Dembele and Matt Gooden. The trio have 12 goals and seven assists between them already.

They’re playing so well that Marcus Maddison has been limited to less than an hour of league football so far. He was one of the division’s stars last season.

Big games coming up

Evans’ side are 2/1 to get another win away at Southend United this weekend, before a huge clash with Portsmouth next week. Both sides are currently locked on 16 points, with Posh ahead on goal difference.

If the league leaders can carry on firing the goals in, they’ll give themselves a real chance of securing promotion at the very least.
