Watford v Man United tips: Red Devils can end Hornets’ winning run

| 15.09.2018

Watford were the surprise package in the first month of the new Premier League season. But the Hornets 100% record will be under threat with Manchester United in town.

The Red Devils have won each of the last three head-to-heads. And with Romelu Lukaku finding his form again, they should prove too strong for Javi Gracia’s hosts.

Match Odds

United have dominated this fixture throughout its history. The North-West giants have won 12 of the last 14 clashes, and raced into a 3-0 win en route to victory at Vicarage Road last season.

Despite a few iffy displays already this season, United clicked into gear with the recent 2-0 win at Burnley. The Red Devils are 10/11 for victory at Watford, with the Draw at 12/5 and a Watford win 3/1.

The United -1 handicap is 5/2, while Both Teams to Score is available at 4/5.

Talking Tactics

The visitors have a selection headache at left-back. Luke Shaw would be the usual choice, but his recent injury for England could see former Hornet Ashley Young get the nod.

Jose Mourinho would be wise to stick with the 4-3-3 system that brought success at Turf Moor. Marouane Fellaini deserves another start after his impressive recent displays.

For Watford, a 4-4-2 seems probable. Andre Gray and Troy Deeney will be looking to bully a United defence that can be got at.

Goalscorer Odds

Lukaku is 6/4 favourite in the Anytime Goalscorer betting, after grabbing six goals in his last five games for club and country. Meanwhile, the Belgian powerhouse is 5/1 to Score Two or More Goals.

Jesse Lingard netted on United’s last trip to Hertfordshire, and is 5/2 to open his account for the season.

Meanwhile, Deeney represents the hosts’ best chance of a goal at 13/5.
