Sunday’s FA Cup tips: Good weekend for Leicester and Woking?

| 05.01.2019

There’s nothing quite like FA Cup third round weekend. And today’s ties suggest this year’s edition has the potential to be one of the most memorable.

Premier League Watford visit sixth-tier Woking in an intriguing match-up. Meanwhile, the likes of Manchester City and Leicester City will be looking to avoid the prospect of a giant-killing.

As the countdown to kick-off begins, we’re on hand with another round of top tips…

Woking v Watford – 2:00pm

Watford are hot favourites here, at 1/5 for victory. But while it’s an uphill battle for Woking, four draws and a win from their last five home games could make the Cards tough opposition.

The National League South side have a decent squad. The likes of Kane Ferdinand, Jamar Loza and Greg Luer all have Championship football on their CV.

We go 11/2 they force a replay, while victory for the Surrey side is 16/1.

The in-form Loza is 7/2 Anytime, having netted seven in his last 11 outings.

Watford’s Troy Deeney knows a thing or two about Non-League, from a prolific loan stint at Halesowen Town. He’s Evens to sting Woking with a goal, while 3/1 says he bags Two or More.

Preston North End v Doncaster Rovers – 2:00pm

Donny may be away from home and a division below Preston – but that doesn’t tell the whole story.

The goals are going in at the wrong end for North End, who have managed a single point from their last four fixtures.

By contrast, Grant McCann’s side are barrelling up the table in League One. They’ve netted 17 times in the last six games – including a 5-0 mauling of Rochdale.

Our traders make it 16/5 for a Doncaster victory, while they’re 19/20 to leave Deepdale with at least a replay.

As for a fifth 2-1 win this season for the Keepmoat Stadium club, that’s up for grabs at 12/1.

Man City v Rotherham United – 2:00pm

The Citizens clawed their way back into the title race by putting the stop to Klopp and co.’s unbeaten run on Thursday night.

They face a far easier test against a Millers side who’ve failed to win away since April. It’s 1/16 for a home win, while Pep Guardiola’s men are 4/7 to Win Both Halves – something they’ve done 15 times this season.

Talking of 15s – Rotherham have been behind at the 15-minute mark in two of their last five games. We go 19/10 for the Citizens to lead at the quarter-hour mark.

Spanish prodigy Brahim Diaz could get a start, with Pep likely to ring the changes. He grabbed a brace in the EFL Cup against Fulham, and is Evens to net Anytime here.

Newport County v Leicester City – 4:30pm

A few months back, this could’ve looked like a potential trap for the Foxes. But the Exiles are falling fast, with a single point from their last five league games.

Only two teams in League Two have shipped more goals this season, and if Leicester play a strong side they could rack up a whopping scoreline.

A simple victory for Claude Puel’s side is 2/7. Meanwhile, we go 12/1 for a 4-0 away win and 16/1 about a 4-1 scoreline.

Jamie Vardy could leave Newport’s backline all at sea. He’s 4/7 Anytime and 23/10 to break the deadlock in South Wales.
