Wednesday Transfer Rumour Round-Up: Manolo and Manolas on the move?

There’s just over three weeks left of the January transfer window, and while rumours continue to swirl, some deals have already been completed.

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard for next summer. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Lewis Baker has been recalled from his loan spell at Leeds United.

There’s still plenty to get excited about, though, as we round up today’s big rumours…

Manolas to Man United?

Manchester United’s central defensive issues are well documented. So it’s no surprise the Red Devils are being linked with every defender under the sun this month.

AS Roma’s Kostas Manolas is the latest name to be bandied about, although this one could have some legs. The 27-year-old reportedly has a £30.75m release clause in his contract.

That doesn’t become active until the summer. But with United keen on shoring up their defence sooner rather than later, they could take a hit and move for the Greek ace this month.

Hi to Hysaj for Chelsea?

Maurizio Sarri is a creature of habit. The Chelsea boss takes certain players with him wherever he goes. Jorginho followed him to Stamford Bridge. Elseid Hysaj could be about to do the same.

The right-back was linked with a move to West London in the summer but chose to remain in Naples. Now Hysaj could be on the move after featuring once in Napoli’s last four matches.

His agent is fanning the flames of a potential deal, and with Chelsea reportedly keen to add to their squad this month, a switch could be on.

Disappearing act for Gabbiadini

Things haven’t quite gone to plan for Manolo Gabbiadini at Southampton. The Italian forward has scored just a single goal in 15 appearances this season and looks to be on his way out of St Mary’s.

Sampdoria appears his most likely destination. The Serie A side have made a loan offer to sign the 27-year-old with a view to a permanent deal worth £10.75m at the end of the campaign.

Ander-nother transfer at Old Trafford?

All eyes are on United’s incomings. But a big name could be heading for the exit door in Greater Manchester, with rumours linking Ander Herrera with a return to Athletic Bilbao.

The Basque club’s sporting director Rafael Alkorta seems keen. He’s confirmed Athletic’s interest in the midfielder, who left San Mames for Old Trafford in 2014 for £28.25m.
