West Ham v Arsenal Tips: Former Gunners to fire down Emery’s men?

Published:
Marko Arnautovic - West Ham

FA Cup victory at Blackpool gave Arsenal a first win in five away trips. But while they peeled off the Tangerines with ease, this afternoon’s trip is a different matter.

West Ham United are on the up under Manuel Pellegrini, and have their sights set on a first win over the Gunners since August 2015.

So, can the Gunners build on their seaside success? Or will the hosts deliver a hammer blow to their top-four hopes?

Match Odds

Arsenal have won the last three head-to-heads, but all of those came at the Emirates. The last meeting at London Stadium ended in a drab 0-0 draw.

Unai Emery’s men are Evens for victory in this clash. Meanwhile, we go 12/5 for an Irons win, and 27/10 for the Draw.

Six of West Ham’s last eight home games have thrown up four or more goals. Another dose of Over 3.5 is 5/4, while a fourth Score Draw in nine away games for the Gunners is up for grabs at 13/4.

Talking Tactics

There could be familiar faces for Arsenal fans in the home line-up. Pellegrini is likely to stick with 4-4-2 for this clash, so personnel is the talking point here.

Former Gunner Samir Nasri could make his league debut for the Irons out wide. And there’s a chance Lucas Perez – who signed from Arsenal last summer – could also feature.

Up front, the fit and firing Andy Carroll is likely to partner in-form Marko Arnautovic.

The visitors are likely to play a broadly similar system. Mesut Ozil is back in training, and could slot in behind the striking pair of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.

Another booking for Lucas Torreira would see him suspended for the Chelsea game, so he could be rested.

Goalscorer Odds

Who’s top of the Anytime Scorer market? Aubameyang, of course! The prolific hitman is on a sweet 16 goals for the season already. He’s 21/20 Anytime, and 16/5 to notch Two or More Goals.

Arnautovic has slotted home four in four for the hosts. He’ll look to strike while the Irons are hot. We go 6/4 Anytime and 5/1 for the Austrian to break the deadlock.

Further back in the betting, Perez is 19/10 to sting his old club with a goal. For the Gunners, Granit Xhaka is 7/2 to notch for the second straight league game.
