Noel Fehily looks ahead to his four rides on Ladies Day

| 12.03.2019

I have four rides on Wednesday and for all of them it will be the first time I have ridden them in a race.

I start with Seddon (1.30) in the Ballymore. He is a horse Tom George has always thought a lot of. He has been run two good races at Ascot but he needs to improve significantly to get in the money here. It looks a very competitive Ballymore.

I have schooled On The Blind Side (2.10) ahead of the RSA, which again looks a very competitive race. He had some very good hurdle form but lost his way a bit before winning at Kempton last time.

He will wear cheekpieces for the first time, which I think will sharpen him up a little bit. I schooled him at Newbury when he jumped with Santini and he did actually go quite well.

He won his three novice hurdles and was one of the leading fancies for the Ballymore at Cheltenham last year but missed Cheltenham and disappointed at Aintree. I hope he is on the way back and I think he has an each way chance.

I have picked up the ride on Diamond Cauchois (2.50) in the Coral Cup for what will be his first start of the season. He loves soft ground and put up a couple of decent runs in handicap hurdles last season.

I imagine he has a bit to find and that his trainer Gordon Elliott has more fancied challengers in his team.

If you want my view on the Champion Chase it is that Altior will win and Min will finish second. I think Min is a very good bet now that the ground is turning soft.

Everyone would love to see Tiger Roll win again. He loves the Cross-Country course and has become a bit of favourite of everyone.

I don’t ride in the Boodles and my last ride of the day is in the Champion Bumper on Cascova (5.30), who won around Huntingdon and was then second in a Listed Bumper at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day.

He will need to improve a bit and four-year-olds have a bad record in the race, but his second at Cheltenham may give him a placed chance.
