Our ambassador Frankie Dettori looks forward to the season ahead

I had a nice winter, spending most of it in the Middle East but I’m back home now looking forward to the new season.

I’ve been doing the usual gym work, running in the mornings and getting to know the new generation. It’s all very exciting stuff at the moment.

As everyone knows, Too Darn Hot had a little setback but it doesn’t sound like anything major. Obviously I am disappointed that he’s missing the Greenham tomorrow but it’s not doom and gloom!

These things happen with horses and it doesn’t look like there is any serious threat for the rest of the season. Going straight to the 2000 Guineas without a prep run has been done many times in the past and I don’t see it as a negative.

Tomorrow I ride a nice filly called Muchly in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at 2.10. It does look a wide open race and 7f could be on the sharp side but as I said she’s a nice filly and she will like the ground.

I think my best chance tomorrow is going to be Pianissimo (5.00), who has run once finishing second.

We have a few maidens running at the Craven Meeting but I haven’t got my head around that yet, I am concentrating on Newbury tomorrow first.

Looking further ahead, I always get asked about Enable. I’ve only seen her in the box and given her plenty of polos which she loves. I won’t ride her for a while, until the second part of the season.

We have some exciting horses in the stables but I won’t single any of them out! The next number of months should be really exciting.

Frankie
