PL Darts Tips: More magic from MVG and Mensur in Birmingham?

Michael van Gerwen

Former Alexandra Palace finalists MichaelSmith and Peter Wright are supping at the last chance saloon as the PremierLeague moves onto Week 12 in Birmingham.

Both haveendured a nightmare time of it on the PDC’s annual roadshow. Defeats againstMensur Suljovic and Daryl Gurney tonight would spell the end of theirrespective Finals Night hopes.

Can they resurrect their chances? We’ve previewed this week’s fixtures in our Premier League Darts Tips.

Mensur Suljovic v Michael Smith

Our traderscan barely split Suljovic and Smith. The formeris priced at 6/4 with the latter at 6/5. That’s something of a surprise given the Gentle is six pointsbetter off in the Premier League table.

He’s in better form too. The Austrian has won five of his last seven matches, while Smith has lost three of his last four. Bully Boy did look better last week but still came up short when losing 8-5 to Gerwyn Price.

That doesn’tbode well for this one. Suljovic is 6/1to inflict another 8-5 defeat on Smith, who is 11/10 to continue his barren run with Under 3.5 180s.

Rob Cross v Gerwyn Price

These twoserved up a corker in Berlin a month ago. We’re expecting more of the samehere. Both are in exceptional form and with their stats suggesting an evenmatch, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Drawat 7/2.

They served up four 180s apiece on that occasion. With a combined 78 between them across the season, we’ve got Over 7.5 maximums at Evens, while we go 9/2 about a Draw where the lipstick is concerned.

Daryl Gurney v Peter Wright

It’s been aPremier League to forget for Wright. Not only has he picked up just eightpoints and one win across the season, last week in Cardiff he turned tospring-loaded darts. That change did not bear fruit.

Anotherswitch is unlikely to work this week either. Gurney is in marginally betterform but has struggled on his doubles. He’s 1/2on the Double Chance or 6/5to win outright.

Neither man has been particularly prolific where the T20 bed is concerned either. We go 5/6 about Under 5.6 180s and 4/7 for there not to be a maximum in the first leg of the match.

James Wade v Michael van Gerwen

The Machinehas been in terrific nick this season. But Michael van Gerwen in his currentform is different gravy. MVG has averaged 107.87 and 109.11 in consecutiveweeks. He’s sharpened up his finishing too.

The Green Machine checked out over 60% of his doubles in Liverpool and Cardiff. If he turns up in a similar mood tonight, it’s difficult to see Wade being able to live with the 4/9 shot.

Van Gerwenmakes for an interesting proposition at 6/5on the -3.5 Handicap, although Wade could get his own back in the 180market at 11/5 against an opponent who often switches downstairs.
