PL Darts Tips: MVG, Cross and Mensur to mop up in Manchester?

Published:
Mensur Suljovic

Week13 could be unlucky for some in the Premier League, as James Wade, GerwynPrice, Mensur Suljovic and Daryl Gurney continue to battle it out for anall-important play-off spot.

Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross are almost there. Onewin apiece for the top two in the table will all but guarantee their place atthe O2 Arena in London on 23rd May.

There’s plenty of tungsten tossing to come before then, though. And we’ve previewed the Manchester action in our Premier League Darts Tips.

Rob Cross v Michael Smith

It’s just not happening for Smith. Bully Boy isn’t playing particularly bad darts, but the results tell their own story. Three wins all season means it’s almost impossible for him to qualify for the play-offs.

Cross, on the other hand, has been in magnificent form. He’s lost just twice since Week 3 and demolished Smith 7-3 in Aberdeen. He’s 10/11 for the points once again or 5/1 to clinch an 8-5 success.

Smith has at least rediscovered the treble bed. He hit seven last week and has 48 overall – 10 more than Cross. We go 13/10 about him knocking in Over 4.5 180s in Manchester.

Peter Wright v Mensur Suljovic

Another week, another set of darts and another defeat forWright. That’s three in a row for Snakebite. A match-up against theultra-consistent Suljovic is the last thing the Scotsman needs.

Mensur is a constant around the 100.00 average mark and can take this at 10/11. Alternatively, he’s 13/8 with the -2.5 Handicap over the slightly longer first-to-eight-legs format.

Don’t expect a peppering of the lipstick, though. Wright and Suljovic are ranked eight and nine for 180s. We go 4/6 about Under 6.5, while there’s 4/1 about a Draw where maximums are concerned.

Daryl Gurney v Michael van Gerwen

Only a seasonal best performance from James Wade could deny MVG last week. Gurney is unlikely to produce similar as the Dutchman aims for a 106.00+ average for the fourth week in a row.

Our traders don’t envisage much trouble for van Gerwen at 1/3. And neither do we. His opponent is far too slack on his doubles, which leads us to MVG on the 3.5 Handicap at 5/6, while an 8-2 win at 11/2.

James Wade v Gerwyn Price

This should be a right humdinger. Both players are in tip-top form and fighting it out for a play-off spot. Nothing could separate them in Dublin in February, and we go 10/3 about another Draw here.

It should be tight where 180s are concerned too. The Iceman edges the Machine 43 to 38 across the season. Price has also hit more maximums than Wade in each of the last three weeks and is 5/6 to do so again.

That said, neither player is overly proficient on their trebles.Under 6.5 180s between the pair is 4/5.
