Salah, Mane and Aubameyang pile Golden Boot pressure on Aguero

| 16.04.2019

With less than a month of the season remaining, the race is on for both the Premier League title and the top-four spots.

But there’s a fierce fight raging too in the Premier League Golden Boot stakes. Mo Salah and Harry Kane had a personal duel last season, but it’s a wide-open contest this time around.

And after goals from Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the weekend, the battle for the prestigious accolade is closer than ever. Here’s how it looks…

Mo Salah – 19 Goals @ 6/4

The Liverpool ace is now favourite to win the Golden Boot for the second year in a row, after his wonder strike against Chelsea on Sunday took his tally to 19 goals for the campaign.

The Egyptian is appearing to reach peak form at just the right time, and on current form could secure glory for both himself and the Reds.

Sergio Aguero – 19 Goals @ 7/4

Despite banging in more than 160 Premier League goals, Man City star Aguero has only won one Golden Boot.

But he’s scored 20 goals or more in each of the last four campaigns, and is just one off that target again with five games still to play.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 18 Goals @ 5/1

Thierry Henry and Robin van Persie have both won the award for Arsenal in years gone by. They aren’t quite the force of old these days but Aubameyang is doing his bit to get the North Londoners into the top-four once more.

The Gabon ace is just one off the pace on 18 goals, and Arsenal’s generous run-in could yet see him overhaul Aguero and Salah.

Sadio Mane – 18 Goals @ 11/2

Many would argue that Sadio Mane has been more crucial to Liverpool’s title push this year than Salah.

The Senegal forward has been a hive of potent activity all season, and keeps popping up in the right place at the right time.

Has every chance of overhauling the leaders in the goal charts, but may miss out if Salah starts grabbing the goals again.

Raheem Sterling – 17 Goals @ 11/1

Much like Mane at Liverpool, Sterling has had a similar impact over Aguero at Manchester City.

The England international has reached new heights this term, but will need to score three goals more than his club team-mate in the final weeks to win.

Eden Hazard – 16 Goals @ 33/1

He may be playing for a move to Real Madrid, but Chelsea won’t mind if Eden Hazard’s goals haul them into the top-four.

The Belgian has been the Blues’ standout player, and with Gonzalo Higuain and Olivier Giroud struggling on the goal front, should bag a few more before the campaign is over.

Jamie Vardy – 15 Goals @ 50/1

He didn’t enjoy playing under Claude Puel, but Jamie Vardy is back to his best since Brendan Rodgers took over at Leicester City.

The former England international has fired in eight goals in his last nine league games. Games against Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea in the final weeks may see his goals dry up, but you never know with Vardy.
