Slavia Prague v Chelsea betting tips: Blues to grab crucial away goals?

| 09.04.2019

After two nights of fun-packed Champions League action, attention turns to UEFA’s second European competition, with the Europa League quarter-finals kicking off.

Chelsea face a tricky away tie at Slavia Prague, who have been the surprise package in the competition this season, fighting the odds and overcoming tough battles along the way.

The action gets underway from Prague at 8:00pm, but before a ball is kicked, we’ve got all the odds and info here…

Match Odds

Slavia Prague need to get off to a flyer at home if they’re to stand any chance of making it through to the semi-finals. They overcame five-time winners Sevilla in the last round despite being the underdogs. They’re 4/1 to gain the first-leg advantage.

Chelsea are favourites to win this year’s competition at 15/8, and they come into the away leg as the favourites to gain the upper hand. The Blues are 4/6 to win.

Maurizio Sarri will be looking for his side to grab a crucial away goal, with a draw not being the worst result for the SW6 side. They draw is 27/10, and a draw with Both Teams to Score is 4/1.

Talking Tactics

Sarri is likely to rotate his squad, but that shouldn’t be an issue with the depth the Blues boast. He’ll have one eye on Sunday’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Eden Hazard and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been electric on the wings recently, but they’re likely to drop to the bench in favour of Pedro and Willian, with Olivier Giroud starting over Gonzalo Higuain.

The Blues are likely to set-up in a 4-3-3 again, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and N’Golo Kante adopting a bench role in favour of Ross Barkley and Mateo Kovacic.

Slavia Prague favour a three-at-the-back system with Jan Boril and Vladimir Coufal hugging the touchlines and providing extra width.

Former Chelsea youth prospect Miroslav Stoch is likely to face his former employers in the number ten role, being the driving force behind forward Milan Skoda.

The Czech side will be without Tomas Soucek through suspension.

Goalscorer Odds

Chelsea’s French front man Olivier Giroud is the leading scorer in the Europa League this season, netting nine times already. He’s 7/2 favourite to score first, and 13/10 to add to his tally anytime.

Pedro and Willian have been on the score sheet more often than not when they’ve played this season. There’s 21/10 about Pedro grabbing a goal anytime, while 5/2 says Willian scores another in the Europa League.

Skoda provides Slavia Prague’s best chance of getting on the scoresheet. He’s their 7/1 favourite to grab the first goal, or a 14/5 anytime scorer.
