Ireland Champion jockey Paul Townend looks ahead to his weekend rides

| 10.05.2019

On Saturday I go to Cork where I ride Foveros in the 1.50. He is a horse we like a lot at home.

He won on the flat at Longchamp last year so we will be hoping he can make a nice hurdler. He seems to jump well so this is a nice place to start off with him.

I’m on Call Of The Loon then in the 4.45. He won very well at Kilbeggan the last day.

Speak to David Mullins, and he was very impressed with him and thinks he could have another day in him. If he can reproduce that run then he will have a good chance.

I then go to Killarney on Sunday where I ride Elimay in the 2.40. She is dropping back from two-and-a-half miles here.

That was her personal best at Punchestown last time out. She looks nicely treated in this and she is going the right way. I hope she can back up the run at Punchestown.

Again she has a good chance and it’ll be nice to put on the green and gold colours for a change.

My last ride of the weekend is on Ballybrowney Walk in the 5.00. She has been running consistently well without winning.

They’re not doing her any favours getting weight every day without winning. I thought she would have won at Leopardstown when she tripped up with me.

She ran into one at Limerick the last day so I think the flat track here will suit her. The step up in trip shouldn’t inconvenience her. She has a chance.

I have a select few rides but they all have decent chances.
