Premier League Final Day: Will Man City or Liverpool win the title?

| 07.05.2019

The end of the Premier League season is in sight, and though many issues were wrapped up last weekend, the big one is still up for grabs; the title.

It’s been a remarkable fight, with both Manchester City and Liverpool raising the bar this season. They’ve left the rest trailing in their wake, but only one can prevail this Sunday.

Who will it be?

Premier League Winner Odds

It’s advantage City after Vincent Kompany’s 25-yard screamer saw them beat Leicester City 1-0 on Monday night.

Pep Guardiola’s men are a point above Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, and know that victory away at Brighton & Hove Albion will secure glory. Equally, any result equal to Liverpool’s will suffice too.

Our traders reckon it’s almost a foregone conclusion, with City now 1/10 to win the league.

Liverpool, who must beat Wolves at home and hope City lose or draw, are now out to 6/1 having been favourites for large parts of the campaign.

City are 2/15 to beat a Brighton side which has already secured Premier League safety. Liverpool should have enough in hand to beat Wolves at 3/10, with the Black Country side already secure in seventh place.

The top-four fight

It had been a remarkably close scrap for the past few months, but the top-four battle is now all-but over.

Chelsea have booked one of the Champions League spots after a 3-0 win over Watford, while Tottenham should join them despite losing 1-0 to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men were dealt a favour by both Arsenal and Manchester United, after both clubs failed to win on Sunday. Mathematically the Gunners could still do it, but they need to thrash Burnley and see Spurs lose heavily at home to Everton.

And just behind them, Leicester’s loss to City secured Wolves’ place in seventh. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will land a Europa League spot if Man City beat Watford in the FA Cup Final, but the Hornets will take it should they down the Cityzens at Wembley.

Plus, if Watford were to cause an upset in the final, they would ensure the Premier League’s sixth-place finisher enters second round of Europa League qualifiers, starting at the end of July.

Premier League Golden Boot odds

With the relegation spots filled, the only other thing left to fight over is who will be this season’s Premier League top goalscorer.

Mo Salah currently leads the way on 22 goals. The Egyptian is 2/7 to win the accolade for the season campaign in succession, but could miss the final game of the season after a concussion versus Newcastle United.

That could allow Sergio Aguero, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Anfield team-mate Sadio Mane in. The trio are each on 20 goals, and know that a hat-trick could suffice.

City’s Aguero is a 4/1 shot to land the golden boot, with Aubameyang and Mane each 14/1.
