Ladbrokes World Championship: Whitlock to make second final

| 31.12.2011

Much of the attention today will be on the semi final clash between defending champion Adrian Lewis and James Wade, but the other semi promises to be just as intriguing.

Australian Simon Whitlock heads into his last four match against Andy Hamilton as the big 4/9 favourite but shouldn’t have things all his own way.

Hamilton was comfortable in his last round win against Belgium’s Kim Huybrechts and prior to that produced a brilliant performance against Phil Taylor’s conqueror Dave Chisnall.

Hamilton swept him aside 4-0 and only allowed Chisnall to pick up five legs in the entire contest.

He hit an impressive 11 180s in his quarter final win and had a three dart average of over 102.

Hamilton is currently out at 7/4 to get the victory.

However, Whitlock was fantastic against last year’s losing finalist Gary Anderson and dismissed the Scot 5-1.

‘The Wizard’ has shown he has the talent and the mental ability to achieve victory thanks to his run to the final in 2010 where he was eventually defeated by Taylor.

He took every chance he was offered against Anderson and a similarly ruthless performance should see him into his second final in three years.

Backing Whitlock to win the clash with a -1.5 set handicap at 8/11 looks to be a punt well worth considering.
