All eyes will be on the Bundesliga as top-level European football returns this weekend. But if you’re a fan counting down to kick-off, you want to know what you’re tuning in for right?

So, we look at the title race and the players to watch ahead of this weekend’s restart…

Title Race

While Liverpool are 25 points clear at the top of the Premier League, the German top flight has a genuine title race.

Bayern Munich lead the way at 1/5 on but are only four points clear of Dortmund at 5/1 – who they still have to play.

A point back in third are RB Leipzig at 9/1 while the 125/1 outsiders Borussia Monchengladbach lie just a point behind them in fourth.

Die Fohlen are 1/2 to make the top four, with fifth placed Bayer Leverkusen 11/10 to sneak into the Champions League spots.

BvB were in a similar position last season but fell away, they’ve now strengthened with the likes of Mats Hummels, Julian Brandt and Erling-Braut Haaland – can they hold their nerve and knock Bayern off their perch?

Bayern had clicked into gear before the pause in play with Serge Gnabry and top scorer Robert Lewandowski in electric form. But it’s by no means a foregone conclusion and it could all come down to Der Klassiker on 26th May.

Revierderby and weekends games

The first weekend back offers up the Revierderby at 14:30 between Borussia Dortmund (1/2) and Schalke (5/1).

RB Leipzig take on Europa League hopefuls Freiburg, with the hosts at 3/10 to win and keep the pressure on. With the players on show this could be a high-scoring affair – RB to win and Both Teams to Score is 15/8.

But the away side have hot-shot Nils Petersen up top, he’s 7/2 to score anytime with a draw at 21/5.

There’s also Eintracht Frankfurt against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday evening. Will home advantage play a part here? Frankfurt are 9/5 to bag the win, while Gladbach are 7/5 for victory.

You can get 7/2 if you fancy Both Teams to Score in the first half. Die Fohlen’s Marcus Thuram is 11/2 to open the scoring.

Can Union Berlin upset the mighty Bayern Munich? They are 16/1 to do so. Bayern are just 2/11 to keep their unbeaten run going.

Players to watch

The Bundesliga has some of the most exciting talent in Europe. Borussia Dortmund have Jadon Sancho, Haaland and Marco Reus in one team. While you can watch Alphonso Davies and Kingsley Coman fly down the wing for Bayern Munich.

Elsewhere, Gladbach have Alassane Plea, Bayer’s star is Kai Havertz and Schalke have midfielder Amine Harit.

You could follow Milot Rashica as he tries to pull Werder Bremen clear of relegation.

Or fall for some sharp shooters like Rouwen Hennings of Fortuna Dusseldorf and Union Berlin’s Sebastian Andersson.
