Celtic v Dundee betting tips and odds

Ange Postecoglou bagged his first win as Celtic manager during the week and with extra bodies boosting his squad, confidence is high ahead of Sunday’s clash with Dundee.

Joe Hart made his debut in goal following his move from Tottenham and Kyogo Furuhashi scored in his first start in a 4-2 Europa League qualifying victory at Jablonec on Thursday.

The Hoops are 1/4 to beat the Dark Blues so let’s look at some of the markets and odds in our Celtic v Dundee betting tips.

Match Odds

Celtic lost the opening game of a season for the first time since 1997 with a 2-1 defeat at Hearts last weekend and are out to 11/4 to wrest the title from arch rivals Rangers.

However, new signings James McCarthy, Carl Starfelt and Hart have lifted the gloom at the club as they prepare to face a Dundee side that twice came back to draw 2-2 with St Mirren in their opener despite playing the last 20 minutes with 10 men following the dismissal of midfielder Max Anderson.

Celtic’s defensive frailties have been laid bare in the early stages of the season during which there have been goals at both ends in each of their four matches, and they are available at 15/8 to win and concede.

Dundee, of course, are back in the Scottish Premiership after a two-year absence and their record against the Glasgow giants does not bode well.

The Dee have failed to score in their last seven meetings in all competitions, losing on six occasions, so we go 19/20 on the Bhoys winning to nil or they are 23/20 for a 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 victory in our Celtic v Dundee betting tips.

Celtic got off to a fast start on Thursday, taking a 12th-minute lead through Liel Abada, and Dundee were behind early on against St Mirren so we go 29/10 on the hosts to be ahead in the first quarter of an hour.

Talking Tactics

Postecoglou played a 4-3-3 in the Czech Republic in which Furuhashi spearheaded the attack flanked by Abada and James Forrest, with Callum McGregor and David Turnbull either side of Ismaila Soro in central midfield.

Hart made his debut just 24 hours after his move from north London and he is likely to start in goal at Parkhead where Odsonne Edouard could return having been dropped at Jablonec.

Dundee manager James McPake will likely deploy a similar formation but is without attacking midfielder Anderson who serves a three-match suspension for last weekend’s straight red card.

Goalscorer Odds

Edouard is 14/5 to get the ball rolling on Sunday despite missing Thursday’s Europa League qualifier.

Furuhashi made an impact in his first start and is 10/3 to break the deadlock and 21/20 to get on the scoresheet.

The other scorers from Thursday, Abada, Forrest and Ryan Christie, are 5/4, 13/8 and 7/4 respectively to find the net, while Jason Cummings represents Dundee’s best chance of a goal at 7/2 having scored the equaliser last weekend.
