Barcelona v Bayern Munich betting tips: Messi or Lewandowski to shine?
Published:We could be in for the tie of the round tonight as Barcelona meet Bayern Munich in the third of this season’s Champions League quarter-finals.
Tonight’s winner takes on Manchester City or Lyon next Wednesday, and both Bayern Munich – who have won all 12 competitive games since the restart – and Barcelona (who have Lionel Messi of course) will fancy their chances of going all the way.
Kick-off is at 20:00 (UK Time) on BT Sport 1 from the Estadio da Luz in Lisbon, and so without further ado, here’s our Barcelona v Bayern Munich betting tips…
MATCH ODDS
It’s the Bundesliga champions who our traders fancy for this one, with Bayern chalked up as 19/20 favourites to win the match, and 1/2 shots to progress by any means.
That leaves Messi and Barcelona in the rare position of underdogs. The Catalan side are 5/2 to win the match, and 7/5 to progress.
With so much attacking talent on show this evening, goals seem almost inevitable. Both teams to score is odds-on at 1/2, with over 3.5 goals at 13/10.
Put all that together, and there’s 11/5 about Bayern to win and both teams to score.
TALKING TACTICS
Quique Setien is likely to be without Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele this evening, but he can call upon Sergio Busquets and Arturo Vidal, who are both back from suspension.
Busquets will slot into the middle of midfield, with Ivan Rakitic and Frenkie de Jong looking to pull the strings. Messi will be joined by Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann in a three-pronged attack.
For Bayern, Robert Lewandowski has already pummelled in a mighty 53 goals this season, including 13 from just seven Champions League games.
The Poland striker will lead the line, supported by Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry and Thomas Muller in a 4-2-3-1 formation.
Philippe Coutinho, on-loan from Barca to Bayern, is eligible to play tonight and may make an appearance off the bench.
GOALSCORER ODDS
Having plundered in 53 goals already, Lewandowski is favourite to score first at 13/5, with the 31-year-old odds-on to score anytime at 4/5.
There’s 4/1 about Messi netting the opener, with the Argentine ace 7/5 anytime.
Behind the leading men, Gnabry is 11/2 to score first for Bayern, with Barca duo Suarez at 9/2 and Griezmann at 10/1.
