Leeds fans concerned over best way forward post-Cellino

With Leeds chairman Massimo Cellino agreeing in principle to sell his majority stake to supporters’ group Leeds Fans United, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the club’s future.

Cellino told BBC Radio Leeds; “100 per cent I will sell to the fans, if they want to buy it and look after the club. The fans are the only asset the club has.”

Given the controversy that has courted Cellino since he became the majority owner of Leeds back in April 2014, the consensus from Whites fans appears to be that they welcome the Italian’s expected exit.

Taking into account he is now facing a second successive Football League ban from running the club and Steve Evans is the sixth manager Cellino has installed in 18 months, the club are crying out for some stability.

However, trawling through popular forums and on twitter there is still a lot of anxiety over what will happen next.

This Leeds fan was not alone in questioning whether or not LFU have raised sufficient cash to take on the running of the football club.

Others on popular forums say they would rather see another takeover bid from a rich individual or consortium which would guarantee financial stability going forward.

Some are worried about the intentions of some of the names being frittered about in relation to potential takeovers though.

Whatever occurs in the next few weeks and months, Evans and his team must try to rise above the mayhem and start to pick up results.

Their most recent Championship defeat to Blackburn was the Whites’ fourth in six matches, seeing them slump to 18th in the table.

There is still plenty of time for the Yorkshire giants to turn it around and whatever happens at board level the fans will remain unanimous in supporting their side on the pitch.
