Europa League betting tips: Monaco and Sociedad in top-two battle

Europa League betting tips and odds

The penultimate round of Europa League group games takes place on Thursday night when there are seven clubs in with a chance of joining Lyon in the knockout stage.

We have already previewed the games involving Leicester, West Ham, Rangers and Celtic but have picked out three other matches for our Europa League betting tips.

The best game involves a top-two clash in Group B between Monaco and Real Sociedad, who are 9/5 underdogs to get the win which will see them jump to the top of the table.

Monaco v Real Sociedad

Both teams remain unbeaten heading into Thursday’s match but Sociedad have drawn three of their four games, including their clash with Monaco in September, so we go 11/5 on another share of the spoils or 16/5 with goals added.

Sociedad were knocked off top spot in La Liga by Real Madrid at the weekend following a goalless draw with Valencia, so they will be keen to get back to winning ways.

Monaco were 2-0 down inside 10 minutes against Ligue 1 champions Lille on Friday night but fought back to earn a point despite playing the last 12 minutes with 10 men.

Despite being unbeaten, the Basques have conceded the first goal in three of their four games, all of which came in the first half – an option which can be backed at 17/10.

Imanol Alguacil’s side have twice been trailing at the break but came back to draw, so Monaco HT/Draw FT looks an option at 12/1 in our Europa League betting tips.

Galatasaray v Marseille

Galatasaray missed out on the domestic title on goal difference last season and although the current campaign is hardly going to plan, they top Group E by three points from Lazio and four ahead of Marseille so they are in a good place ahead of Thursday’s game.

The Turks are 9/5 to win while another draw between the teams can be backed at 11/5 as one of our Europa League betting tips bearing in mind the French side have split the points in all four group games.

Despite topping the table, goals have proved few and far between in Gala’s games, scoring three times and conceding just once, so under 2.5 goals looks a possibility at 3/4 while another goalless draw is 8/1.

A goal in both halves and the match to be drawn is 5/1 and Draw HT/Draw FT is 18/5 but Marseille have to win this game if they are to stand a chance of making it to the last 16, so it is no surprise to see them as 7/5 favourites.

Dinamo Zagreb v Genk

In Group H, West Ham lead the way with 10 points but there is a three-way battle between Dinamo Zagreb, Genk and Rapid Wien for second spot.

The Croatians are two points clear of Genk in second place having won 3-0 in Belgium on matchday two, so it is slightly surprising to see they are 27/20 to complete the double.

Dinamo Zagreb are 7/2 to win to nil or 2/1 to score in both halves as they have in half their group games, including that win in Genk, who are 15/8 to avenge their defeat in September.

Thursday’s match should be a tighter affair, so both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win has its merits at 11/8 as one of our Europa League betting tips.
