Europa League betting tips: Go for goals in Ibrox thriller

Europa League betting tips and odds

Rangers continue their bid for European glory on Thursday when they host Braga in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

Gers lost the first leg 1-0 in Portugal but are 19/20 favourites to win in 90 minutes and 11/8 to qualify for the last four.

We have already covered the clash between West Ham and Lyon in depth but you can read our Europa League betting tips from the other three games below, starting at Ibrox.

Rangers v Braga

The Light Blues rode their luck in the first half when Braga hit the post and had a goal ruled out by the VAR but Giovanni van Bronckhorst expects his players to “give a good performance” at Ibrox with “the crowd behind us as always”.

Rangers fought back from a 2-1 deficit to eliminate Red Star Belgrade with a 3-0 win in Glasgow and Van Bronckhorst, whose players won 4-0 at St Mirren over the weekend, will be hoping for a similar outcome on Thursday.

However, the Scottish champions failed to get a shot on target last week and although Van Bronckhorst felt his side “created some chances” he was impressed by the quality of Braga, who are fourth in the Portuguese top flight but beat Benfica at the start of the month.

This match should be a lot closer than the clash with the Serbs, who beat Braga 2-1 at home during the group phase and then drew 1-1 in Portugal.

Carlos Carvalhal’s young side look tempting at 29/10 to win but the first of our Europa League betting tips is for both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win at 15/8.

Barcelona v Frankfurt

An excellent first leg finished 1-1 in Germany where Ansgar Knauff gave Frankfurt a spectacular lead at the start of the second half before Ferran Torres equalised with a well-crafted goal, although the hosts had right-back Tuta sent off 12 minutes from time for a second yellow card.

Despite having only 33% possession, Frankfurt outshot the Catalans 16-7, five of which were on target so they have reasons to be optimistic heading to Camp Nou.

Frankfurt are struggling in the Bundesliga and a 2-1 home defeat by fifth-placed Freiburg at the weekend meant they are winless in their last five matches in all competitions and understandably 7/1 to win in 90 minutes and 18/5 to qualify.

Another draw is priced at 15/4 and it’s 9/2 if we throw goals into the equation but Barca are expected to turn up the heat in front of their own fans and their form under Xavi has been excellent in which they are unbeaten in 15 games in LaLiga.

Barca conceded twice in a 3-2 win at Levante on Sunday and Frankfurt have scored and conceded in eight of their nine Europa League games this season.

The Catalans won’t have it all their own way but a win and both teams to score at 7/4 is the next of our Europa League betting tips.

Atalanta v RB Leipzig

A thrilling first leg was one of three quarter-finals to finish 1-1 and another draw is available at 5/2 while a repeat of that scoreline is 11/2.

Luis Muriel put the Italians in front with a sensational strike but Leipzig hit the post and had a penalty brilliantly saved by Juan Musso, who then kept out the rebound at full stretch.

However, the equaliser came in unfortunate circumstances for Davide Zappacosta, who turned in a cross from the left flank to ensure the tie ended level heading to Bergamo.

There were 34 shots in an end-to-end encounter, 10 of which were on target, and another epic looks on the cards.

Both teams to score, over 2.5 goals and either team to win appeals at 5/4 as the last of Thursday’s Europa League predictions.
