Di Canio favoured to lead Swindon to the League Two title

Despite suffering the disappointment of relegation just a fortnight ago, the Swindon Town fans can look forward to a season of optimism according to the League Two betting odds.

Having captured the signature of Paolo Di Canio as manager next season, Swindon Town are the 9/1 second favourites to win the title next season and find just Crawley Town (9/2) ahead of them in the betting.

Considering Crawley have just been promoted and Swindon relegated, you have to feel that Swindon offer the value in the League Two betting and now is the time for the Swindon fans to forget thoughts of relegation and turn their focus to a title challenge.

Departing midfielder David Prutton certainly believes Swindon have the potential to bounce straight back to League One.

“It’s the bitterest kind of experience for any fan to have,” said Prutton who is moving to Sheffield Wednesday.

“But [Swindon is] a club that’s got the potential and the excitement about it now to rectify that pretty quickly.

“I was as intrigued as everyone else [when Di Canio was appointed], but he is a very passionate, enthused and lively man. It’s got potential to be a bit of a master stroke.

“For a club that will be feeling a bit sorry for itself that’s the best plan they could have had.”

Despite finishing bottom of League Two, Swindon are the preferred of the four teams relegated to challenge for the title next season with Bristol Rovers 12/1, Plymouth Argyle 14/1 and Dagenham & Redbridge 25/1.

Di Canio knows he has his work cut out in his first season as a manager but the feel good factor surrounding Swindon is hard to ignore and they have to be fancied to challenge next season.
