Arsenal v Man City betting tips, preview and odds

The Emirates Stadium takes centre stage this weekend for a mouthwatering clash between last season’s Premier League runners-up Arsenal and champions Manchester City.

The teams had mixed fortunes in the Champions League during the week but that will all be forgotten ahead of Sunday’s clash which has produced plenty of goals in the last couple of seasons.

We’ve looked at some of the stats and odds to pick out some Arsenal v Man City betting tips.

Mixed fortunes in Europe for heavyweight rivals

City got back to winning ways during the week with a 3-1 Champions League victory at RB Leipzig which turned on the introduction of Julian Alvarez.

Pep Guardiola’s side had lost their last two matches against Newcastle and Wolves and were heading for a 1-1 draw in Germany until the World Cup winner curled home a superb shot in a tight area before setting up Jeremy Doku for the clincher.

Rodri was in the starting line-up for Wednesday’s win but remains suspended for Sunday when Kevin De Bruyne will also be missing with a long-term hamstring injury, so City are looking light in midfield.

However, Mikel Arteta had a concern over winger Bukayo Saka, who set up Arsenal’s first-half opener in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat in Lens only to limp off for the third successive match 20 minutes later, but he has since said the England international is “in contention” to face City.

City’s defeat by Wolves last weekend means only Arsenal and north London rivals Tottenham remain unbeaten this season but this is where the story could end if recent history is anything to go by.

The Gunners beat City in the curtain-raising Community Shield in August but it took a deflected shot from Leandro Trossard to take the game to penalties.

City eye 13th successive win against Gunners

That win at Wembley ended a terrible run of results for Arsenal, who have lost the last 12 Premier League meetings with City and continue to be without Gabriel Martinelli.

With their best two wingers potentially out, Guardiola’s side to make it 13 successive victories against the north Londoners is the first of our Arsenal v Man City betting tips at 11/8.

Three of the last four top-flight encounters have involved at least three goals which can be backed at 19/10 and that option certainly looks a possibility this weekend.

City won last season’s corresponding fixture 3-1 in February which they followed with a 4-1 victory at the Etihad, so it would jot be a surprise if the goals flowed once again.

Both teams scored in the first half at the Emirates last season and that’s been a feature of the Gunners’ recent home games, with the 2-2 draw against Tottenham and 3-1 victory over Manchester United paying out in that market.

With that in mind, both teams to score before the break at 13/4 is the next of our Arsenal v Man City predictions and we’ll add 1-1 at 13/2 into the mix for good measure, which was the case in the three games mentioned above.

At slightly lower odds of 6/1, we also like one of the #GetAPrice options on Manchester City to win, both teams to score and at least four goals which would have been successful in both of last season’s Premier League meetings.

The Gunners have scored at least twice in all five home matches in all competitions this season and while they may struggle to make it a sixth against the Premier League champions and without their best two wingers, they have found the net in every match.

City, meanwhile, have kept just one clean sheet in their previous eight outings across all competitions, so we should expect to see goals at both ends.
