Villarreal v Man Utd betting tips and odds

Manchester United begin life without Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempting to secure Champions League qualification as we look at some Villarreal v Man Utd betting tips.

Solskjaer was relieved of his duties on Sunday morning following United’s 4-1 loss at Watford on Saturday, their fifth defeat in seven Premier League matches.

Villarreal, who beat United on penalties in last season’s Europa League final, can also progress with a win and if other results go their way.

We also have Champions League betting tips for some of the other matches taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday and look at the Chelsea v Juventus clash.

Match Odds

United are 7/5 in the Villarreal v Man Utd betting tips to secure the win which will see them advance to the knockout stages.

First-team coach Michael Carrick will take charge after Solskjaer’s sacking and a draw, priced at 12/5, will also be enough should Young Boys and Atalanta also share the spoils.

After taking just one point from their first two group games, Villarreal responded to the late heartbreak at Old Trafford by reeling off back-to-back wins over Young Boys.

Unai Emery’s side will reach the last 16 for only the third time if they secure victory and Atalanta fail to beat Young Boys.

The Yellow Submarine have an excellent European record at the Estadio de la Ceramica, winning seven and drawing one of their last eight games.

They are 9/5 to prevail once more in our Villarreal v Man Utd betting tips.

Talking Tactics

Villarreal have used several formations in the group stage but played a 4-3-3 system at Old Trafford before switching to 3-5-2 and 4-4-2 in their subsequent matches.

Forward Arnaut Danjuma, a summer signing from Bournemouth, is their top goalscorer while former Tottenham and Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue offers much experience in the middle of the park.

Highly-rated Spain international Pau Torres and 36-year-old Raul Albiol are quality players in the heart of the defence.

United play a 4-2-3-1 formation with Cristiano Ronaldo the focal point but changes will surely be made following Saturday’s poor performance at Vicarage Road.

Donny van de Beek could well start after coming off the bench at half-time and scoring within five minutes.

Anthony Martial, Fred and Jesse Lingard will also be hoping to be in the starting line-up.

Goalscorer Odds

Ronaldo scored a stoppage-time winner when these sides met at Old Trafford in September.

The Portugal captain has netted five times in four games in Group F and is 7/2 to open the scoring and 13/10 to strike at any time.

Van de Beek registered his first United goal since making a scoring debut against Crystal Palace in September 2020 and is 11/2 in the anytime market.

Danjuma has netted seven goals for Villarreal this season and is 9/2 to score first and 17/10 to get on the scoresheet in Villarreal v Man Utd betting tips.

Paco Alcacer opened the scoring in the reverse game and is 11/2 to do so again.
