Norwich v Liverpool betting tips and odds

The Premier League’s big guns make their first appearances in the third round of the Carabao Cup this week and two of the games feature in our in-depth previews, starting with the clash at Carrow Road where Norwich and Liverpool meet for the second time this season.

The Reds are 4/7 to beat the Canaries on Tuesday night just as they did on the opening weekend of the season although Jurgen Klopp has a habit of fielding weakened teams in this competition.

Daniel Farke tends not to pick strong teams in the Carabao Cup either so let’s look at the markets and odds in our Norwich v Liverpool betting tips.

Match Odds

Liverpool beat Norwich 3-0 in August thanks to goals from Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mo Salah, and are 9/5 to win to nil once again or 3/1 to win both halves as they did in August.

That said, the likes of Harry Wilson, Adrian, Rhys Williams, Marko Grujic, Takumi Minamino and Curtis Jones were in the starting line-up for last season’s fourth-round tie against Arsenal and a much-changed team is likely to take to the field on Tuesday night.

When the Canaries were last in the top flight two seasons ago, Daniel Farke made 11 changes for the second-round defeat by Crawley, so having lost five successive Premier League games the German is unlikely to be prioritising a deep run in the Carabao Cup.

Both coaches are, therefore, likely to field second-string sides, so in one sense there is not that much difference than if they were both at full strength.

The Reds have won on their last eight trips to Norwich – all of which were in the Premier League – and we go 6/5 on them winning and over 2.5 goals which occurred in seven of those matches.

Five of those victories came by one-goal margins which can be backed at 5/2 and the visitors are 2/1 to win and both teams to score in our Norwich v Liverpool betting tips.

Farke could spring a surprise and go with a strong side to get a much-needed win to help with confidence which is available at 9/2 and 13/2 to do so on penalties.

Talking Tactics

Klopp is set to go with his preferred 4-3-3 formation, with the likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Divock Origi, Joe Gomez, Nathaniel Phillips, Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain and Naby Keita potentially in the starting line-up.

Thiago Alcantara picked up a minor calf injury during Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace although the Spaniard was an unlikely starter in any case.

Farke made five changes to his side for Saturday’s 3-1 home defeat by Watford, leaving the likes of Todd Cantwell, Lukas Rupp and Pierre Lees-Melou on the bench, so it would take a brave person to predict City’s starting XI but the likes of Dimitrios Giannoulis, Adam Idah, Ben Gibson, Christoph Zimmermann and Angus Gunn could be in the mix.

Goalscorer Odds

Checking the line-ups an hour before kick off is probably a sensible plan of action before getting involved in the first or anytime goalscorer markets, but we’ve highlighted some potential marksmen for Tuesday’s game.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is 13/2 to break the deadlock or 12/5 to score and Jones is 10/1 and 7/2 in the same markets.

Origi is 4/1 to get the ball rolling or 7/5 to find the net, while Minamino is 5/1 and 9/5 for Tuesday’s Norwich v Liverpool betting tips.

Canaries striker Idah is 13/2 and 12/5 in the two options, with midfielder Jacob Sorensen 33/1 and 12/1.
