Premier League first scorer tips and odds

The Premier League season starts this weekend and as usual there will be fierce competition to win the Golden Boot.

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who is wanted by Manchester City, is the 3/1 favourite in the Premier League top scorer odds to win it for a fourth time and you can read our preview by clicking on the link.

We have picked out three Premier League first goalscorer tips from this weekend, starting with the clash between Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

The Blues snapped up Romelu Lukaku for £97.5million this week and the former Inter Milan striker is 1/2 to be their top scorer this season and 9/2 third favourite to win the Golden Boot.

Lukaku is unlikely to be in the starting line-up on Saturday, nor will Hakim Ziyech who suffered a serious shoulder injury during the Super Cup victory over Villarreal on Wednesday.

Kai Havertz started that game and broke the deadlock in the 2-1 pre-season win against Arsenal on the first day of August as well as the 4-1 victory at Selhurst Park in April.

The German attacker is 9/2 to get the game’s first goal as one of our Premier League first scorer tips, while USA winger Christian Pulisic, who came on for Ziyech just before the break, is the same price.

Watford v Aston Villa

Danny Ings joined Aston Villa from Southampton in a £25milllion deal during the transfer window and made his mark in his only pre-season appearance, scoring the equaliser in a 3-1 victory over Salernitana.

Ings scored 12 goals for Saints last season and is the 7/2 favourite to get the ball rolling with the opener against a Watford team that lost 3-1 to Crystal Palace in their final warm-up and are priced at 3/1 to finish bottom of the table.

Ollie Watkins is 9/2 to break the deadlock, although those of you looking for a bigger price could do worse than 12/1 shot Ashley Young who scored against Salernitana and struck the crossbar during the 3-0 win against Bristol City.

Everton v Southampton

Former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez must get off to a fast start to appease the Everton fans unhappy with his appointment and he could not have asked for a better opener than Southampton.

Saints sold star striker Ings during the summer and replaced him with Blackburn striker Adam Armstrong who has never played in the Premier League.

To make matters worse, key defender Jannick Vestergaard is close to joining Leicester for £15million so the Blues will be confident of opening the season with a win.

Demarai Gray and Andros Townsend have been brought to Goodison Park to supply the goals for Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is 14/5 to grab the opener, although Moise Kean has made an impression in pre-season after an excellent loan spell with PSG and he is 7/2 to strike first in our Premier League first scorer tips
