Boro hoping to rejuvenate flagging Barcelona graduate

With 10 new players arriving this summer, Middlesbrough have been quite noisy throughout the window.

However with just 24 hours left to sign new faces, the north-east outfit look unable to resist a Deadline Day-dabble to further strengthen their squad.

According to reports, Aitor Karanka is willing to take a chance on Aston Villa flop Adama Traore, who has asked manager Roberto Di Matteo to leave the Midlands club.

Traore, who was signed by the Villans from Barcelona last summer for £7m, failed to start a single Premier League game for the relegated side last season.

However, Karanka clearly believes he can get better results out of the 20-year-old Spanish U19 international, who only made one appearance for the Blaugrana in his time with the La Liga giants.

In order to make room for Traore, it’s believed that Albert Adomah will move in the opposite direction.

The former non-league player scored eight goals in 47 games for Boro last term and was already negotiating a switch to Villa Park before the Traore interest broke.

Should those deals go through it will mean Karanka has signed an entire team’s worth of players since sealing promotion to the top-flight as Championship runners up.

So far, that recruitment drive has paid off, with the Riverside club collecting five points from their opening three games and getting particularly valuable contributions from new striker Alvaro Negredo.
