Is Sunderland boss Moyes about to reunite with Norwich striker?

Published:

New Sunderland boss David Moyes has already reunited with one of his former Everton charges in the form of winger Steven Pienaar, and the Black Cats gaffer could be set to lure another of his trusted Toffees to the north-east, with a move for Steven Naismith priced at 4/5.

Moyes signed the hard-working Scot from Rangers in 2012, and he impressed as both a striker and attacking midfielder during three-and-a-half seasons on Merseyside, before a switch to Norwich City in January 2016.

However, the Canaries’ relegation from the Premier League has left the 43-cap Scotland international plying his trade in the Championship – and reports indicate the versatile 29-year-old is keen to return to the top-flight today.

The Sunderland boss has previous for Deadline Day deals, having famously splurged £27.5m on Marouane Fellaini in an 11th-hour deal as Manchester United manager.

And there’s no question the former Kilmarnock striker (no, not Fellaini) would be well within Moyes’ budget, with Transfermarkt.co.uk estimating his price tag at £5.1m.

Combined with the potential signing of Naismith, that means the Wearsiders look good value to buy the most players of any Premier League club today at 5/1.

Sunderland are next in action against Everton, with 13/5 for the North East heavyweights to enjoy a second successive home win against the Toffees.

But will Naismith be lining up against his former club when this clash kicks off?
