Who will be the Premier League’s top scorer?

The Premier League returns on 17th June and while Liverpool look all set to clinch their first Premier League title, there’s still plenty to play for in the final nine games- including the winner of the Golden Boot.
The trophy was split three ways between Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang last season – but with Jamie Vardy leading the way right now we look at the top four contenders.
Jamie Vardy – Leicester City – 19 goals
Vardy must be back on those energy drinks this season as he’s fizzed in with 19 goals to have Leicester City bang in Champions League contention.
At 33-years-old he’s showing no signs of slowing down and is 7/4 favourite to add the Golden Boot to his collection.
The Foxes have struggling Watford away and Brighton at home to begin the restart – Vardy could put some daylight between him and the others.
Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang – Arsenal – 17 goals
Where would Arsenal be without ‘Auba’s’ goals?! According to Sky Sports, his goals have been worth 16 points this season. It’s not an exact science but take those goals away and Arsenal would be 19th in the table.
Aubameyang is a sure-fire goal-scorer and, while the Gabon international may not be around next season, he’s well on course to beat last season’s tally of 22 goals.
If Mikel Arteta can get Arsenal ticking, then Aubameyang might have a sniff at 10/3 of another Golden Boot.
Sergio Aguero – Manchester City – 16 goals
Man City may not be firing on all cylinders in the league this season, but there’s one constant – Aguero’s goals.
In Spanish he’d be known as a certified ‘cazagoles’. Goal poacher. It just goes to show how many great Premier League forwards there have been that he’s only nabbed one Golden Boot.
City may not be tussling for the title like last year, but that won’t stop Aguero (4/1) thumping in more net-busters.
Mo Salah – Liverpool – 16 goals
Liverpool fans have been salivating at Mo Salah’s ruthless goal-scoring for three years now and it shows no sign of letting up.
The Egyptian’s nose for goal has him at and just three strikes off Vardy with nine games remaining. The way Salah’s evolved under Jurgen Klopp, he won’t just be content with the Premier League title but will be intent on finishing as the top scorer for a third time.
An outside shout must go to Sadio Mane who has become as potent in front of goal as his Liverpool counterpart.
Marcus Rashford was enjoying his best goal-scoring season before injury and lockdown. He’s at 16s to come out all guns blazing and steal the gong.
