Real Madrid boss Mourinho chasing Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas

| 31.12.2010

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is allegedly lining up a shock £35 million bid for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas.

Arsenal fans will not be surprised the rumours about Fabregas’ future have started already – there was almost constant speculation last summer that he would be heading back to Barcelona, where he began his career as a youth team player.

According to The Sun, Mourinho has been a long time admirer of the Spanish world cup winner and believes he can convince Fabregas to shun the advances of Barcelona.

Real are rumoured to be willing to offer £35 million for Fabregas or give the Gunners Ezequiel Garay, Lassana Diarra or Gago in part exchange.

A Real Madrid ‘insider’ said: “”Mourinho has decided to convince Cesc personally he can be the next leader of the team.”

Mourinho will certainly have his work cut out though, with Fabregas’ heart still very much torn between Arsenal and Barcelona.

The Spaniard was allegedly on the verge of signing for the Catalan giants last summer before Arsene Wenger convinced him to stay.

Fabregas was also pictured wearing a Barcelona shirt during Spain’s post-world cup celebrations, although he was ambushed by Barca defenders Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique.
