Saha’s Tottenham move could open the door for Pienaar return

| 31.01.2012

Steven Piernaar’s time at Tottenham Hotspur could be coming to an abrupt end if the latest transfer rumours are to be believed.

With Louis Saha poised to make a shock move to Spurs before the window closes this evening, David Moyes is allegedly keen to bring the former Toffee back to Merseyside – even if it’s just on loan.

The South African moved to Spurs from Everton in a cut-price deal worth £3million last January.

However, the midfielder has struggled to break into the Spurs first XI, with the likes of Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon continuing to perform brilliantly for the north London side.

He has made just 15 appearances for Harry Redknapp’s team in the past year and regular first XI football would surely be a draw for Pienaar.

With Spurs keen to get Saha in as back-up for Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor, Everton will have some leverage to broker a deal.

Pienaar made 133 appearances and bagged 13 goals during his time with Everton and adding a player who has proven himself at Goodison would be a huge bonus for Moyes who once again has to watch the pennies.
