Rangers v Livingston betting tips and odds

The new Scottish Premiership season starts this weekend with the clash between champions Rangers and Livingston.

Steven Gerrard’s side are 2/5 in the Scottish Premiership odds to retain their title and 2/11 to get their campaign off to a winning start at Ibrox in Saturday’s lunchtime kick-off.

Gers were immaculate at home last season so let’s check out the markets and odds in our Rangers v Livingston betting tips.

Match Odds

The Light Blues won all 19 games at Ibrox during their title-winning campaign and won three of their four encounters with Livi who drew the opening game 0-0 at Almondvale.

Rangers did not concede in any of the four games and have kept clean sheets in their previous six matches against Saturday’s opponents, so they can be backed at 8/11 to win to nil once again.

That said, Rangers did not score more than three goals in any of those six games so they are available at 20/23 to win and under 3.5 goals with at least one team failing to score.

In the correct score market, the Glasgow giants are priced at 5/1, 17/4 and 11/2 to win either 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 respectively against a Livi team that finished sixth in the table last season.

In the current campaign they have been competing in the Scottish League Cup but a shock 2-1 defeat by Alloa meant they qualified for the second round as the last of the three best runners-up.

That does not bode well for a clash with the champions who bagged a 2-1 win against a Real Madrid team comprising the likes of Isco, Martin Odegaard, Rodrygo, Lucas Vazquez and Luka Jovic in a friendly on Sunday having drawn 2-2 against a strong Arsenal outfit eight days earlier.

Rangers to win either half and score 1.5 goals in the match while keeping a clean sheet is available at 5/4 as a #GetAPrice offer.

Talking Tactics

New signing Fashion Sakala scored the equaliser against Real Madrid and with Alfredo Morelos potentially missing the game because of quarantine protocols upon his return from Colombia, the Zambian striker’s goal will have given Gerrard a boost.

John Lundstram also started the game on the right side of midfield in a 4-3-3 formation with Steven Davis in the middle and Ianis Hagi on the left.

Livi manager David Martindale has brought in 12 new signings, the latest being left-sided defender Sean Kelly on a one-year deal following a season with Falkirk.

Goalscorer Odds

Sakala is the 14/5 favourite to break the deadlock on Saturday and 19/20 to get on the scoresheet, while Cedric Itten, who scored the winner against Real Madrid, is 16/5 and 11/10 in the same markets.

Lundstram is 6/1 to get the ball rolling and 23/10 to find the net, while Hagi is 7/1 and 13/5 in the Rangers v Livingston betting tips.

Livi’s best hopes of drawing first blood are Bruce Anderson and Jack Hamilton who are available at 12/1, although they are 9/2 and 4/1 respectively to breach Rangers’ defence in the any-time scorer market.
