Estonia v Wales betting tips and odds

Wales head to Estonia still in the hunt to finish second in their World Cup qualifying group after a pulsating 2-2 draw against Czech Republic on Friday night.

An extraordinary own goal from keeper Danny Ward gave the hosts a 2-1 lead in Prague, but Dan James secured a point for the Welsh who head to Tallinn with a superior head-to-head record against the Czechs and a game in hand.

Rob Page’s men are 4/7 to win Monday’s game but let’s look at some of the other options in our Estonia v Wales betting tips.

Match Odds

Wales deserved at least a point against Czech Republic and were unlucky not to come away with three, but they could only draw with Estonia when the teams met in Cardiff last month.

Estonia earned their first win of the group phase with a 2-0 victory over Belarus on Friday and another win would keep their faint hopes alive of sealing the runners-up spot.

The hosts are 11/2 for a back-to-back victory, 13/5 to draw or 13/10 in the double chance market, while another goalless draw is priced at 7/1 in our Estonia v Wales betting tips.

Despite missing captain Gareth Bale, Wales were the better side against the Czechs who thrashed Estonia 6-2 in Tallinn seven months ago.

Estonia have scored exactly twice in all three home games, including a 5-2 defeat by Belgium, and they were in front each time, so we go 11/1 on Wales winning from behind or 16/5 on a victory with goals at both ends.

James to score the opener in a 3-2 victory is 100/1, but further down the scale the visitors are 5/1 to win or draw, both teams to score in the second half and over 2.5 goals in the match.

Talking Tactics

Page played three at the back in a 3-5-2 in Prague, with James and Kieffer Moore operating up front and stand-in skipper Aaron Ramsey playing on the left side of midfield, with Joe Morrell in the middle and Joe Allen on the right.

However, Page went with a more attack-minded 4-3-3 against Estonia and he must decide whether to bring in Wayne Hennessey as a replacement for Ward, who was partly to blame for the first goal as well.

Estonia played five at the back against Belarus and are likely to stick with the same formation on Monday.

Goalscorer Odds

Ramsey broke the deadlock with a lung-busting run against the Czechs and is 6/1 to repeat the trick or 13/5 to score in our Estonia v Wales betting tips.

James is 5/1 and 23/10 in the equivalent markets, but returning striker Moore, the only player in the starting XI to have scored this season prior to the game, is the favourite at 7/2 and 6/4 in the two options.

Erik Sorga, on loan at Dutch second division side VVV-Venlo from MLS outfit DC United, opened the scoring against Belarus and is 9/1 to get the first goal or 7/2 to find the net.
