West Ham v Southampton betting tips: Hammers can seal Euro spot

| 20.05.2021

West Ham occupy the second of the two Europa League spots and only need to avoid defeat against Southampton to qualify for next season’s competition.

David Moyes’ side are three points clear of seventh-placed Tottenham and available at 7/10 to beat Saints just as they have done in five of their last six Premier League meetings.

The fans will finally get a chance to see their European hopefuls on Sunday as we take a look at the odds to help with your West Ham v Southampton betting tips.

Match Odds

West Ham have enjoyed great success in this fixture lately, winning the last three meetings by at least two goals and they are 9/5 to achieve that outcome.

They scored exactly three goals during those wins, two of which were by a 3-0 scoreline.

The east Londoners are 19/10 to score at least three times and 14/1 to win 3-0 once again while a home victory and over 2.5 goals is available at 7/5.

As badly as Southampton have performed against the Hammers recently, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men picked up a point in a goalless draw at the London Stadium at the end of 2020 and they are priced at 29/10 to share the spoils once more, with another 0-0 also 14/1.

The Hammers have lost their last two home games, though, and we go 15/4 on Southampton to end the season on a high and leave Moyes sweating on Tottenham’s result against Leicester.

Talking Tactics

West Ham keeper Lukasz Fabianski suffered a knee injury in the warm-up to Wednesday’s 3-1 comeback win at West Brom and was replaced by Darren Randolph, so it remains to be seen whether the Pole will be fit for the final game of the season.

Saints striker Che Adams is out with a groin injury he sustained in the first half of Tuesday’s 2-0 home defeat by Leeds and was replaced by Danny Ings at the break, so the ex-Liverpool striker looks a likely starter.

Goalscorer Odds

Ings is favourite within the Southampton squad to break the deadlock at 5/1 and is 9/5 to score any time on Sunday but Michail Antonio and Jesse Lingard top the billing to score the game’s first goal at 4/1.

Antonio netted West Ham’s third as a second-half substitute against the Baggies for his 10th goal of the season and is 11/8 to repeat the trick just as he did in last season’s 3-1 victory over the Saints.

Lingard is one goal away from getting into double figures following his loan move from Manchester United at the end of January and is also 11/8.

Tomas Soucek made it 10 for the season at The Hawthorns and is 6/1 to get the opening goal and 9/4 just to score.
