Dan Skelton: Midnight River to bounce back at Uttoxeter

The drama of Cheltenham is over for another year for Dan Skelton who has runners at Uttoxeter, Kempton and Newcastle on Saturday.

The Ladbrokes ambassador assesses the prospects of all 12 horses from his yard this weekend.

Cousu Main – 1.20 Uttoxeter

He has numbers to find with what will be the favourite but he should run well. I think the step up in trip is a positive.

Dazzling Glory – 1.50 Uttoxeter

The step up to three miles should be a positive for her as well. I believe she should run very well. She is bred for the trip.

Midnight River – 2.25 Uttoxeter

We have had this race in mind for Midnight River for a while. He has to get over a poor run on the last day. I don’t really know why that happened. It’s not like him at all but he is fit, well and fresh at home and I am looking forward to getting him back out.

Ch’tibello – 3.00 Uttoxeter

Ch’tibello had a fall in the Lanzarote last time. We have lowered his sights a little here. It’s still a competitive race. He is off a lower mark than he has raced off for a long time and I have to think he has an each-way shout.

Padleyourowncanoe – 3.35 Uttoxeter

Although Harry is at Uttoxeter, Tristan Durrell rides Padlyerowncanoe. He has 10st so with Tristan’s 7lb claim he has 9st 7lb. The only time I have run him in a chase he didn’t get any further than the second fence because the reins came over his head and they got wrapped around his legs, so Harry had to pull him up. I’ve been waiting to run him in this race. The ground should be ideal and I’d like to think he has an each way chance.

Kracka Nut – 5.18 Uttoxeter

This looks to be a decent bumper but Kracka Nut is a decent horse, especially for the future. Carrying a penalty and winning with a penalty is hard but I do think he is a nice horse.

Rockstar Ronnie – 2.05 Kempton

Bridget has won two races on Rockstar Ronnie, once in fortunate circumstances when there was a faller. But he loves this track, the ground is nice so we have to be positive. I am sure he will run his race.

Jay Jay Reilly – 2.40 Kempton

He goes well on good ground. He has won on this track and he will appreciate the step up in trip. This is a very competitive race but you can see why we think he can go well. There a lot of positives and he is a fresh horse.

Debece – 3.15 Kempton

This is competitive too. I think the step back in trip will be good for him. I feel he would like a bit of nice ground. He will be competitive. I am not sure how well handicapped he is, but he has got to go close. Hopefully he can be winning soon.

Signal Point – 3.50 Kempton

This race has cut up a bit. Signal Point should be much happier on better ground. The favourite should be difficult to beat but I do think she can go well.

Rock Legend – 1.58 Newcastle

Jack Andrews takes 5lb off Rock Legend which puts him at the head of the ratings. I think he will go very close after a wind op.

Kayf Hernando – 3.43 Newcastle

He’s had his wind looked at as well. This is only a four-runner race but there are four decent horses here. Trip, track and ground, everything is in Kayf Hernando’s favour so hopefully he can run well.
