ITV Racing Tips: Chipotle should be too hot to handle in Super Sprint

There is a bit of everything for racing fans in Saturday’s schedule for which the Irish Oaks delivers the quality, the Weatherbys Super Sprint offers a big pot for a small outlay and jump racing is back on the telly – if only briefly.
Runaway Oaks winner Snowfall is the headline act as the filly who carried Frankie Dettori to a 16 lengths victory at Epsom tries to double up on the Curragh, which she is a long odds-on shot to complete.
The Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury has a first prize of £100,000 and not surprisingly there is a maximum field of 22, headed by Royal Ascot winner Chipotle.
But if you are missing the jumps, there is some decent action at Market Rasen where the Summer Plate Handicap Chase is the feature.
Three of the eight races to be shown live by ITV will come from the Lincolnshire track, with the channel also screening four from Newbury with the Irish Oaks added as a bonus.
It all unfolds from 13.25 on ITV and we have previewed the three most significant races of the day in our ITV Racing Tips.
Tabdeed bids for back-to-back success in this 6f sprint. He’s only run twice since he beat The Tin Man 12 months ago and his only start of 2021 was a top effort as he finished fourth behind Chil Chil in the Chipchase Stakes on Newcastle’s Tapeta track.
He must have every chance, as would Method, running just seven days after contesting the July Cup, if he can find his best form. However, this looks a prime opportunity for King’s Lynn after two terrific runs for the Queen at Royal Ascot.
This progressive sprinter got held up in traffic when an unlucky seventh in the King’s Stand Stakes and when turned out four days later for the Wokingham, almost the same thing happened again. If he can keep out of trouble in a seven-runner field this Group 3 is his for the taking.
Snowfall is a shorter price than Enable to complete the Oaks-Irish Oaks double and it would take a brave man or woman to bet against her. Officially she is a stone and more better than any of her opponents, only one of which is a previous Group winner. To say it’s a disappointing line-up would be an understatement. All bar two of the field represent members of the O’Brien family.
Perhaps also it is to do with the calibre of Snowfall who has really come to the fore this year after winning just once in seven runs last year. She made all the running to capture the Musidora Stakes at York and then looked outstanding when landing the Oaks by a record distance of 16 lengths, in which Ryan Moore chose to partner Santa Barbara. She is not only unopposable but also unbackable.
A race restricted to two-year-olds whose weight is set by the price they fetched at auction and a chance for even the most expensive horse to deliver a profit on connections outlay. Ever since it was introduced it has become an annual target for the Hannon stable which has captured the prize ten times. There will be six running for Richard Hannon Jr, of which once-raced Gubbass looks the main hope.
He has scope to take another step forward from his Leicester novice victory, and he is going to have to if he is to get the measure of Chipotle. You don’t get too many Royal Ascot winners in this contest but as the Windsor Castle winner cost only 10,000gns, an assault on the Super Sprint was too good to ignore. The winner of three of his four races showed he was all out speed at Ascot and could be too hot for this field.
