Bookmakers to donate Britannia Stakes profits to charity

| 16.06.2020

Ladbrokes are joining an industry-wide move which will see any profits we make from Royal Ascot’s Britannia Stakes race on Thursday donated to charity.

The industry-wide initiative follows hot on the heels of the hugely successful Virtual Grand National in April, when Britain’s bookmakers raised more than £2.6m for NHS Charities Together.

This time around, we’re aiming to help even more charities, including Prostate Cancer UK, Marie Curie, The Care Workers’ Charity and Berkshire Community Foundation Coronavirus Fund.

Betting and Gaming Council members will donate all profit made from win and each-way bets on the Britannia Stakes, after levies and taxes are deducted.

The Britannia Stakes takes place at 16:10 on Thursday 18th June, on a day which also includes the Royal Ascot Gold Cup.

Nicola McGeady, Head of Ladbrokes Racing PR, said: “It has been fantastic to see Racing return, even if only behind closed doors, and to be able to open our Ladbrokes shops this week with all the safety measures in place to protect our customers and colleagues.”

“Royal Ascot is the biggest betting week of the year in the Flat racing calendar, and we are absolutely delighted to be playing our part in this fantastic industry-wide effort to raise money for very worthy causes.”
