Threat to challenge Pinatubo in the 2000 Guineas?

Published:

Threat is the latest horse to be backed to challenge favourite Pinatubo for the 2000 Guineas, while there are market movers for The Derby too.

Our traders have cut the odds for Threat to 12/1 from 16/1 following the news that Palace Pier will no longer run the 2000 Guineas.

Pinatubo remains odds-on at 10/11 for the race and is 8/1 to win the Guineas and the Derby.

For The Derby, Military March is now 8/1 from 10/1, while Innisfree has moved to 16/1 from 20/1.

Support has also grown for Al Aasy who is 20/1 (from 25/1), having been 66/1 a few weeks ago. Al Suhail has also been cut to 20/1 from 33/1.

Elsewhere, Pierre Lapin continues to attract support for the Commonwealth Cup and has extended his lead at the head of the betting to 4/1 from 6/1.

Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Threat has been quietly backed in recent weeks with encouraging reports coming from Richard Hannon’s yard and with no Palace Pier in the mix, his odds were finally cut today.”
