The Conservatives are heavy odds-on favourites to win the Hartlepool by-election, according to our odds.

As the final few hours of canvassing takes place it’s just 1/10 that the Tories land the hotly contested seat, while 6/1 says Labour pull off an upset.

The by-election is taking place following the resignation of Labour MP, Mike Hill.

Thursday’s votes will be the first electoral battle since the Conservatives won a majority at the 2019 general election.

There’s 4/1 on offer Keir Starmer is replaced as leader of the opposition before the end of this year should Labour struggle at the polling stations.

Jessica O’Reilly of Ladbrokes said: “Money talks, and despite the short odds on offer for an historic Tory victory in Hartlepool, we cannot give Labour away as they look set for a heavy defeat.”
