Crawley on shortlist be be crowned team of the year

| 31.01.2011

CRAWLEY TOWN are now 4/1 with Ladbrokes to be voted the 2011 ‘Team of the Year’ at the Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

They are installed as the second favourites after they became the first non-league team to reach the last 16 of the FA Cup in 17 years. Their fifth round opponents Manchester United are 7/1 to pick up the award.

England’s cricketers remain the odds-on 4/6 favourites to be crowned team of the year following their Ashes win and the fact that it is a World Cup year, while current 15/8 Six Nations rugby favourites England are the 7/1 joint third favourites.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “If Crawley do the unthinkable and knock United out of the FA Cup at Old Trafford we’d surely have an early payout on our hands. It would be the sporting feat of the decade let alone the year.”
