ICYMI: Hayes strike secures crucial win for Aberdeen at Hearts

| 31.12.2016

Jonny Hayes was the hero of the hour for Aberdeen as the Dons put more daylight between themselves and Hearts by winning at Tynecastle yesterday evening.

Derek McInnes’ side dominated the first-half and were unlucky not to go in ahead at the break when Graham Shinnie’s shot came crashing back off the post with Adam Rooney unable to tuck away the rebound.

However, the visitors eventually got their just reward when Hayes converted Niall McGinn’s pinpoint cross on 66 minutes.

Joe Lewis made a vital save from Jamie Walker to preserve all three points late on with this latest win ensuring Aberdeen are now just two points behind Rangers having both played 20 games.

Ian Cathro’s Jam Tarts remain fourth in the Ladbrokes Premiership and three points above St. Johnstone having played two games more.
