17:35 Royal Ascot: Eternal Heart to gain punters’ eternal love
Published:Day three at Royal Ascot opened with the very tough juvenile Norfolk Stakes, and things are to end with another difficult race for the punters.
The King George V Stakes was first run in 1946 and nowadays adds plenty of variety to the Royal Ascot race card in the form of a middle distance handicap.
It’s not a race for favourites and punters can look forward to finding a big-priced winner to end the third day of Royal Ascot on high.
Census currently heads the market at 5/1 but is being kept in close attendance with Purification available at 6/1, Apache at 7/1 and Bowen Panther at 11/2, but we’re looking beyond all of these for the winner.
Whisper it quietly but we believe Eternal Heart is massively overpriced at 14/1.
Mark Johnston’s three-year-old colt is searching for his fourth win in a row and while that’s impressive, it’s his run in the Edingburgh Cup at Musselburgh earlier in the month that is the standout form in the race.
The class two three-year-old handicap was worth £50k to the winner and while Eternal Heart is up 4lbs for that win earlier in the month, he looks more than capable of progressing further.
Mica Mika finished one-length behind Eternal Heart in that run at Musselburgh and he looks a huge each-way price at 20/1 considering he has bags of weight in hands on his rivals.
The other horse to keep a close eye on is Charles Camoin (20/1), a winner at Epsom last time out on Derby Day, but having landed the £24k prize the Sylvester Kirk-trained three-year-old is up 7lbs for that run which leaves us preferring Eternal Heart.
