Alexandra Burke may not be favourite to win Strictly Come Dancing, but that hasn’t stopped one speculative punter wagering £1K on the former X Factor winner.

The bet was struck at odds of 5/1 in what is the largest stake placed on any contestant to date.

Support has been pouring in for the Broken Heels singer and her odds have come tumbling in to 9/2 as a result.

Even so, the 29-year-old is still only the third favourite for Glitterball glory.

Former JLS frontman Aston Merrygold remains on course for a ballroom blitz at 3/1.

However, if you don’t want to Take a Chance on him, Saturdays singer Mollie King is 4/1.

You can get 4/1 on actress Gemma Atkinson, while Eastenders star Davood Ghadami is next best at 10/1.

Jonnie Peacock is also 10/1, with Joe McFadden at 16s and Debbie McGee at 20/1.

If McGee wins it truly would be magic.

Good Morning Britain newsreader Charlotte Hawkins is 25/1. Meanwhile, Rev. Richard Coles doesn’t have a prayer according to our traders with odds of 33/1.

Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes said: “Alexandra’s clearly got the X Factor with punters, and our high staker will no doubt be shouting hallelujah should she triumph on the dancefloor in a few months.”
