2025 British Grand Prix Qualifying
The fight for pole
This year's British Grand Prix promises to be a cracker, with qualifying setting the tone for the main event on Sunday afternoon - which you can read about in our ultimate guide to British Grand Prix odds and betting tips.
With four Brits, three world champions, two relentless McLaren drivers and one iconic circuit, this weekend has all the ingredients of an unmissable occasion - and the fight for pole could well be one to remember.
Last year saw George Russell claim P1 ahead of then-teammate Lewis Hamilton in the British Grand Prix qualifying session, but the former was forced to retire from the race, leaving the door wide open for Hamilton to grab his ninth victory at Silverstone - a Formula One record.
Of the 11 F1 races this year, the winner has qualified in pole position eight times, so while finishing lower doesn't rule anyone out, the advantage has definitely been felt in 2025.
Which team will qualify in P1?
So far this season, McLaren are the only team to have had both drivers win a qualifying session, with Norris and Piastri claiming pole at least three times each - so it's no surprise to see them as the favourites here at 2/5.
Red Bull (4/1) come next, with Max Verstappen always in with a chance of making his way to the front, while Ferrari and Mercedes (both 6/1) are also tipped to have strong qualifying sessions.
Silverstone is Lewis Hamilton's playground, and as one of the four British F1 drivers getting set to light up their home race, the bookies are backing him to put up a real fight to defend his British Grand Prix crown - but he will need to grab Ferrari's first pole of the season.
Last year's British Grand Prix qualifying was led by Mercedes, who claimed a 1-2, but George Russell's early retirement meant he couldn't add his name to the exclusive British GP winners list. However, the heartbreak could well spur the Mercedes man on this time around.
