AC Milan v Barcelona: Favourites to gain advantage at San Siro

Published:

AC Milan meet Barcelona for the third time this season on Wednesday, and they are priced at 4/1 to claim their first success over the Spanish giants.

The teams both progressed from Group H in their respective Champions League campaigns, with Barcelona scoring a 3-2 victory in this fixture during the group stage, and they are 8/11 to triumph here too.

A 2-2 draw was the result in the first meeting of the sides at the Nou Camp though, and so some punters may be interested in backing a draw here at 5/2 odds.

With Barcelona coming into their stride of late though, no more so than in their 7-1 round of 16 mauling of Leverkusen, they could be set to record an emphatic win to send out a message here, and may be worth getting behind at 15/8 to win giving up a one goal handicap.

With an incredible 30 goals racked up from just eight European matches, you have to expect the Catalans to find the net at least three times themselves, and so the 7/4 for Barcelona to win with three or more goals occurring in the match looks a steal.

There are also 13/8 odds available about four or more goals being scored in the match, and considering that that has been the case in all but one of Barca’s Champions League fixtures this campaign, including both Milan clashes, that looks great value.

Pep Guardiola’s men have led at half-time and full-time in all but one match too, and you can get 17/10 about the away side leading at the break and the final whistle in this game, which looks a distinct possibility.

Lionel Messi, with 12 goals in seven Champions League appearances, is understandably short as 11/4 favourite to score first, but it is hard to look past the man who notched five in his last European game for the opener.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the main danger for the home side meanwhile, and you are unlikely to see him as long as 6/1 for first goal in any future San Siro matches.
