Denmark vs Japan – teams announced

Published:

It is a simple case of winner takes all when Denmark take on Japan at 7.30pm, as the victors will be guaranteed a place in the last 16.

Japan have the better goal difference, so a draw will be enough for them to qualify for the second round, but Denmark have no option other than to go for the win.

Captain John Dahl Tomasson starts in attack alongside Arsenal’s Nicklas Bendtner, and Bendtner is 9/2 to score first.

Japan have resisted making wholesale changes following their 1-0 defeat to Holland, and they name an unchanged side.

There is still no starting role for free-kick specialist Shunsuke Nakamura, so Japan will look to Keisuke Honda for their creative thrust from midfield.

The confirmed starting line-ups are:

Denmark: Sorensen; S. Poulsen, Agger, Kroldrup, Jacobsen; Rommedahl, C. Poulsen, M. Jorgensen, Kahlenberg; Tomasson (Captain), Bendtner

Japan: Kawashima; Abe, Nakazawa, Tulio, Komano, Nagatomo; Endo, Hasebe (Captain), Matsui, Honda; Okubo
