Germany vs England – teams announced
Published:This is it. The teams for England’s hyped-up match with Germany are in and each manager is able to select their preferred starting XI. England are 4/5 to go through, while Germany are Evens.
For the Three Lions it is their first unchanged line-up of the World Cup so far, while Germany welcome back Miroslav Klose, who has 11 tournament goals. He is 7/1 to score first.
It appears that rumours about Bastian Schweinsteiger’s demise through injury have been greatly exaggerated as the Bayern Munich midfielder takes his place on the field. He is 18/1 to score first.
Jerome Boateng continues at left back after shaking off a minor niggle and all other Germany starters are declared fit.
Cacau, who would have made way for Klose anyway, is the only player ruled out for Joachim Low’s team.
England stick with the team that put in a much improved performance against Slovenia, with Jermain Defoe, the scorer in that game, starting up front with Wayne Rooney. Defoe is 7/1 to open the scoring, Rooney is 7/2.
