Lansbury to make Championship return in Swansea loan deal

Swansea are to take advantage of the young talent waiting in the wings at Arsenal by agreeing a deal to take hot prospect Henri Lansbury on loan.

The 19-year-old has previous experience in the Championship thanks to loan spells at Scunthorpe and Watford in recent seasons and is set to seal a six-month switch to the Liberty Stadium.

Lansbury has been in high demand from a host of Championship clubs looking to improve their midfield options, with Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Leicester all also linked with the youngster.

Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers told the South West Evening Post: “We want to bring in very good players, but we also want players with the right personality.

“Even though he is coming in on loan, Henri is the type of boy who will adapt and throw himself into life at the club. To get a terrific talent like him into our group will be fantastic for us.”

Swansea are 28/1 to win the Championship this season, but Rodgers is slowly beginning to bring together a young team that has the talent to mount a challenge for promotion.

Rodgers recently paid an initial £500,000 to acquire Scott Sinclair from Chelsea on a three-year deal, while England under-19 striker Frank Nouble could arrive on loan in the near future from West Ham.

Swansea have won one of their opening three league games when securing a 4-0 success over Preston, but are currently preparing for their next fixture which is a Carling Cup tie away at Tranmere.

Stephen Dobbie, who is a target of Blackpool, scored three times for Swansea in the Carling Cup last season and is 6/1 to be the first scorer in the second round clash.

Swansea are 11/10 to beat Tranmere in 90 minutes and 8/13 to make the third round. See the whole match betting market.
