Baraclough begins Scunthorpe stint at improving Sheffield United

| 14.09.2010

Scunthorpe’s first game without Nigel Adkins takes them to in-form Sheffield United, who have started a mini resurgence under the guidance of new boss Gary Speed.

Caretaker boss Ian Baraclough will lead Scunthorpe after Adkins opted to take over at Southampton and is immediately presented with the task of ending a sequence of losing three of their last four Championship games.

However, they are unbeaten in four games against the Blades and did the double over them last season.

They are 9/2 to win again this time, with United, who have won their last two games, 4/6 to triumph for the third game in succession for the first time since January.

Garry O’Connor recently arrived on loan at Barnsley from Birmingham and is set to be handed a debut in a Yorkshire derby at home to Leeds.

O’Connor is 5/1 to open the scoring on his debut with Barnsley having scored first in four of their opening five league games this season.

Meanwhile, they are also yet to lose or concede a goal at Oakwell and are 8/5 to collect the three points against Leeds.

But Simon Grayson’s team are also on a good run having won their last three games and are 13/8 to extend this run at Barnsley.

Bristol City have conceded more home goals than any other Championship team this season, but host Watford high on confidence after picking up their first victory of the campaign in their last game.

They are evens to win at home to Watford, despite the visitors not having lost at Ashton Gate for 17 years.

The last three games between the pair at Bristol City have ended all square and the draw is 12/5.

Sheffield United are 28/1 to win the Championship this season despite their recent good form. See the complete Championship winners market.
